Customization Guide: How to Create Your Perfect Keepsake

Creating a piece of jewelry that lasts forever starts with a great photo or sample. To ensure your BEI JEWELRY piece captures every detail with precision, please follow the guidelines below.

📸 1. Portrait Photo Guidelines

For Photo Engraving & Projection Jewelry

To get that stunning, life-like "3D" effect in your engraving, your photo is the most important part of the process.

The Checklist for a Perfect Photo:

  • ✅ High Resolution: Use the original photo file. Avoid screenshots or images from social media, as they lose detail when engraved.

  • ✅ Natural Lighting: Photos taken in daylight or well-lit rooms work best. We need to see the "sparkle" in the eyes!

  • ✅ High Contrast: A clear difference between the person and the background helps the subject "pop" on the metal.

  • ✅ Full Composition: Ensure the head, hair, and shoulders are all visible. If a part is cropped in the photo, it will be missing in the jewelry.

What to Avoid:

  • Heavy Shadows: Avoid dark shadows across the face.

  • Blurry Images: If the photo is blurry on your phone, it will be blurry when engraved.

  • Group Photos: For small charms, we recommend 1-2 people for the best clarity.

💡 Pro Tip: If you’re unsure if your photo works, look at the eyes. If you can see the details of the pupils, the engraving will look amazing!

✍️ 2. Handwriting & Graphic Guidelines

For Signature, Drawings & Script Jewelry

Whether it’s a note from a loved one or your child’s first drawing, we treat these "lines of love" with the utmost care.

How to Prepare Your Sample:

  • 🖋️ Use Dark Ink: A black marker or dark felt-tip pen on plain white paper is the gold standard.

  • 📄 Plain Background: Use unlined paper. Lines from a notebook or textures from a napkin can interfere with our precision lasers.

  • 📷 Top-Down Photo: Hold your phone directly above the paper (not at an angle) and ensure the text is in sharp focus.

  • 📏 Word Limit: For maximum legibility, we recommend keeping your message under 5–8 words.

Precious Old Notes?

If you have a message on an old, lined, or wrinkled piece of paper, don't worry! You can trace the handwriting onto a clean sheet of white paper with a dark pen and send us the photo of the trace.
